It's not the actual date nor is it claimed to be. It's a fake date simply so that preorders can be taken on the game. It said 11/2/10 from August 2009 until about two weeks ago.

<-- works at Gamestop.

They only have like 4-5 people working on supporting GW1 out of a closet, don't expect miracles.

However a lot of people here are right, some textual preview of upcoming changes would be nice.
WiK was amazing, the follow up with the survey was the right move, and they even added some halloween content.
However, I think Derv update for turkey day would be very sweet; and perhaps the Crisis in Cantha can start in January in a run up to the Canthan New Year?

Judging from what the Team has hinted at, it sounds like the Derv update was in the "final tweaks" stage months ago. I'm sure the Canthan Crisis is a major undertaking but they can start phasing it in slowly like they did WiK. It was weeks if not months from Zinn's Trial and Thackeray's scavenger hunts to the Battle of LA.

However, in the end, we're just happy they haven't gotten bored and gone on to their next shiny object (GW2)

I'm surprised people are still surprised when they see no major update towards the beginning of the month...
When they ALWAYS update the same two things at the beginning of each month.
Come on, guys..

I think a bit of a preview for the cantha arc would be nice (not exactly the horrible viral thingy they did for the war in kryta, but SOME hint of what is coming up....)...a new npc seen wandering cantha...or in one of the towns.....just something to say 'yes its coming' though I doubt we shall see anything until after the canthan new year since there are 2 big holidays coming up in game (as well as the end of the RL year--eg, take your time off or lose the vacation days).....
(and I still think 2012 april for gw2)

all i like to see early, is Anet talking about the upcoming stuff, and a date in what time it'll be finished or nearly finished

like 1 feb - 20 march.... takes long, but was an example
and in what order they do it: derv update, new content + new hero, full hero + new zaishen outpost

just so that we know whether they are close to it or not, that would give me at least a better feeling atm, cuz i'm bored in gw atm, so i do stuff like joining others with stuff i dont care about, or dont need at all and exploring (ok want that anyway, but you get the point.... or not)

come on Anet, make us a bit happier, i at least wanna know what month... and what year

i'm not trying to make em hurry up with the content and such, just with talking about how long it may take... and not "it will take a while" cuz that can be very long
or.... how far in % maybe not exactly, but just a guess

i hope to hear something soon

Shouldn't come as a surprise that this isn't a big update, the first week updates of the month are always Tournament updates and sometimes a couple bug fixes.

^^This is very close to what I've been thinking.

Asking for a Dervish update by the end of the month isnt unreasonable. Although, Ill be the first to admit balancing the Dervish to be unique and fun to play presents many challenges(in some ways more so than the Mesmer).

I like the idea of Crisis in Cantha rolling out around Canthan New Year. It gives Anet time to work on it and could bring some originality to an otherwise boring repeat festival.(10,000 red gift bags for logging in?)

Not to mention, I wouldnt be shocked if they have already started working on a few surprises for Wintersday(wintersday gifts drop a stack at a time from monters?). Which will also set back new content/updates. As long as they dont change the Snowball Arena much and keep Snowball Dominance, Ill be a happy camper.

Nah, it's called delegation. The problem isn't that there aren't people working hard, it's that Anet has always been really cheap about extending GW1's life with enough team members. Let's face it, they built the game to turn to dust when GW2 comes out, that's their hope.

OMG, yes, this is what I have been trying to point out forever now. The base of the problem is that they have 4 people working on GW1. Thats absolutely rediculous... Would it really be so hard to double the workers to 8? That would only involve taking 4 of the workers from GW2 (which would leave GW2 at 96% of its original workforce), yet it would double the amount of updates we get. If the choice is between subtracting 4% of GW2's workforce and doubling GW1's, or keeping it like it is, I know which option I would rather have. GW1's support team is doing as good of a job as they can do. Its anet, who is not putting more members on GW1's support team, that is the reason why the game has become stagnant and updates have become so rare. I miss the days when Anet cared enough about its playerbase to give us monthly updates...

Anyway, I would far rather see the 7 hero update than the Cantha content. Im all for more ingame content, but please Anet, we want our 7 hero teams.

Item Bugfix -> Hero Update -> Balance Update (including derwish changes) -> anything else.

We don't need a big update with all at the same time.

There is good news. You only need 6000 Sweet Tooth points, Drunkard minutes and Party points to max out the title.

All of the following is false... or is it...
wait till everyone move to GW2 , the above mentioned will happen

I think NewEgg cancelled it (GW2)

It was on preorder available 11/2-11/3 then it went to out of stock now I cant find it

If you search Guildwars 2 it pulls up Warcraft

The end is near I fear

In my honest opinion I think even the 4 people who are working on GW1 are probably routinely pulled over to do GW2 stuff considering a lot of the GW1 silence lately. It makes sense though, they had to push out a demo and didn't they say they'd like to have a beta sometime in the coming months? It's not guaranteed they'll have beta this year but either way I guess hands are tied :x

In my priority I'd like to see: Dervish Updates, 7 Hero Update, War in Cantha, and after all that then GvG and PvP stuff.

EDIT: Looks like the investor thingies sort of back this up too.

Not surprising that there is no derv update. Won't expect it till mid december at the earliest. You know, 6 and a half months after the Mesmer update.
As well as the derv update, even though I don't play pvp I wonder what's happening with the GVG update? You know, the one that anet said would take priority and that the Derv update was second, and may or may come out at the same time as it?

With all this silence I wander how 'major' the gvg update will actually be. Maybe they haven't even started on it? Who knows but anet?, shame that they're so quiet about this. Even the derv update which was meant to be a second priority to the gvg update has more information known about it. Good thing I don't care about this since I don't pvp, but I do kind of feel for those that actually gvg. Oh well I'm sure anet will not disappoint gvgers
The only thing I care about is the derv update. I'm sure it will be a huge bug free update too with a much larger array of skills being reworked or buffed than in the mes update since, you know, since it's taken much longer.

Wow, routine update right after a festival doesn't add much to the game, and we get a thread of whiners circle-jerking about who's most disappointed with it. I can't tell which is less surprising.

Because the last dev update was too many months ago. Anet will get more whiners without any relating news.
